Jewish Texts and History • Re: Why is the LXX Rahlfs Deut 6:4 so verbose?

It seems odd that it is translated as, "Hear O' Israel: the LORD our God, the LORD is one."

I mean the LXX has the word "Aigyptos" in it. Why omit that in an English translation? It seems to be a poor translation as far as the LXX goes.

The question is this: if the LXX version of Deutoronomy 6:4 is so verbose why the scant translation?

And if anyone has training in Greek syntax and grammatical structure, could you please render a translation that honors the intent the original author meant.
