Agree. I said long ago that Josephus needs to be put in the Dock. Not to knock him out but to understand what he is doing with the text he writes. Interpretation of his text is as important, if not more so, than interpretation of the NT text. It's not the illusive Holy Grail of truth that will quiten the searching mind. It's not facts that quiten the searching mind, it's understanding. It's the satisfaction of being able to give an answer to questions that bother us. The perennial question, Why ?It always bothers me. People read Josephus like he literally preserves the history of Judaism in the Levant. Fucking morons. Really. My son has to deal with having a girlfriend. I told him today. There is no truth. There's just interpretation.
