You must remember that the darkness that covered the earth was reported to have been for 3 hours in full moon, both a duration and at a time when an eclipse is not possible, as the writers would have known. Therefore the error in your deductions lies in presuming, as Phlegon did, that it WAS an eclipse. Plainly, it was not. If Jesus was who he said he was, the Son of God, the sun going dark at the event is perfectly reasonable.
