This thread started by Ben Smith is likely to have something: viewtopic.php?t=3728

It's said that, after Bar Kochba rallied the people and they massacred the famous 12th legion of the Roman army, liberating Jerusalem for three years, Rabbi Akiva proclaimed Bar Kochba as the Messiah, so perhaps there may be some contemporaneous writings attributed to R. Akiva (aka Akiva ben Joseph) or about him ...
The Jewish sage Rabbi Akiva, who was the spiritual leader of the revolt,[47] identified Simon Bar Koziba as the Jewish messiah, and gave him the Aramaic patronymic bar Kokhba, meaning "Son of a Star", a reference to the Star Prophecy in Numbers 24:17: "A star rises from Jacob".[48] The name Bar Kokhba does not appear in the Talmud but in ecclesiastical sources.[49] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bar_Kokhb ... _of_events

Coins, said to be Bar Kokhba coins, were struck [eta: maybe not all Bar Kokhba coin claims are valid; see next post]
