Jewish Texts and History • The Narrative Structure of the Hexaemeron

Greetings,

I would like to invite those familiar with the six day account of creation in Genesis 1 to critique the findings of my paper The Narrative Structure of the Hexaemeron on Academia (apologies for not posting the URL). In brief, my paper argues that the Hexaemeron encompasses twenty-two works of creation (cf. Jubilees 2), with the six days arranged according to the aliquots of the perfect number six (cf. Augustine, Gen. Litt. 4.2) in a 1:2 distribution reflecting the compartments of the tabernacle (cf. Midr. Tadshe 2.1). This departs from the consensus of scholars who have long assumed that the account encompasses eight creative acts which are symmetrically arranged into two corresponding triads of days. I have previously reached out to several scholars who seemed most knowledgeable about the subject, but have not heard any response. I have also asked others to critique my paper in another forum not specifically devoted to biblical studies, but was not able to receive the desired substantive criticism I had hoped for. I therefore ask those here who are interested in Genesis 1 to review my paper and comment on the findings it presents.
