Essentially for three principal arguments:
- the birth story is anti-Marcionite;
- traces of rivalry between Jesus and John the Baptist are probably inherited by *Ev;
- Matthew is so strongly insistent on Jesus as fulfillment of the Torah, that if one already assumes a such excessive insistence as reaction to Mark, then it is at least equally easy to see it as reaction to *Ev.
