Saying Narrative Commentary
10
28 Peter began to say to him, “Look, we have left everything and followed you.” 29 Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for my sake and for the sake of the good news[g] 30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this age—houses, brothers and sisters, mothers and children, and fields, with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.”
15:40 There were also women looking on from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome, 41 who followed him when he was in Galilee and ministered to him, and there were many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem.
42 When evening had come, and since it was the day of Preparation, that is, the day before the Sabbath, 43 Joseph of Arimathea, a respected member of the council who was also himself waiting expectantly for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 44 Then Pilate wondered if he were already dead, and summoning the centurion he asked him whether he had been dead for some time. 45 When he learned from the centurion that he was dead, he granted the body to Joseph. 46 Then Joseph[k] bought a linen cloth and, taking down the body,[l] wrapped it in the linen cloth and laid it in a tomb that had been hewn out of rock. He then rolled a stone against the door of the tomb. 47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the [mother] of Joses saw where the body[m] was laid.
1. Note the qualifications regarding Peter's following. Peter is following for Peter, not for Jesus or the Gospel.

2. People will multiply just like seed.

3. Seems like quite a literary contrivance that someone from"BestDisciple" town would receive The Kingdom of God.

4. Jesus' mother per "Mark" is Mary. She followed Jesus to try and stop him earlier. Here there are potentially 3 new Marys following Jesus.

5. By an Act of Providence (or just literary skill) there are also potentially 3 new Josephs/Joses who are Jesus' new pussycats as brother Joseph also tried to stop Jesus.

6. Seems to me the straightforward reading from the above is that the Mary of Joseph is Arimathea Joseph's wife as that is the Joseph before her. As "Mark" never mentions Jesus father, is this where subsequent Gospellers get the Joseph and Mary parents?
