Christian Texts and History • 5 Reasons the Paulines are Marcionite

(Assuming the epistles are already forgeries)

1) the name, Paulus, seems the best choice Marcion himself could do.

2) diffuse references to "God the Father". It makes more sense in reference to a new god (cf. Bar-Abbas).

3) the partition of the world between two different apostolates, otherwise very abstract and unrealistic, makes more sense in relation to the Marcion's choice (independently known from other sources) of making official the parting of the two ways.

4) the interpolation about Paul pre-Christian persecutor reflects the fears of the interpolator about Marcion being the Christian "persecutor" of the church.

5) the cursing of the cross via Deuteronomy (Gal 3:13) beind used as veiled reference to the identity of the only author of the crucifixion: the same god who cursed the crucified one. (Note that I cannot use here 1 Cor 2:6-8 since it is a Valentinian piece, also if YHWH figures among the many killers there). Is not it strange that the only direct quote from the bible (rejected by Marcion) allows a such allusion?

I have omitted other evidence of anti-demiurgism since I have limited the case to only the marcionite version of anti-demiurgism.
