Aren't both Robert Spencer and Jay Smith simply apologists with no academic backgrounds? I'm wondering why anyone would take anything they say seriously. Spencer already admits that the mainstream academic consensus has already confirmed the existence of a historical Mohammed.
Exactly, trying to claim that the consensus of mainstream academics that have confirmed Mohammed's existence were bought by Saudi Arabia and Qatar, is like saying that the Academic consensus that confirms the existence of Jesus was bought by the VaticanReplace 'Saudi Arabia or Qatar' with 'Vatican' and I may say the same thing about the HJ search.
