Frankly, I don't really care how a few people choose to define it, the term is confusing and really ought not be used (and is not used anywhere but specifically in this debate). When "historicism" is used outside this context, it specifically refers to various schools of thought regarding literature and critical theory, and the coopting of it in this debate is, honestly, one of the many things I find petulant and infuriating about it. So yeah, the confusion of those outside of this debate about this term is more than understandable since the (almost exclusive) mythicist use of "historicist" is arguably nonsensical and only exists at all because they want a label for a conglomerate "other" they are in conflict with. Frankly, I don't even like or want to use that term at all anymore and would aver its usage for myself.
