From Enrico Tuccnardi who ran a preliminary stylometric program comparing the letter to the Stromateis last week:
Hello Stephan,
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been able to revisit the necessary programs for the analysis and have started running them, using Stromateis as the comparison text.
The letter is 2,500 characters long, so shorter than Theodore, but still enough to achieve a sufficient degree of reliability, I believe. I’ve divided Stromateis into segments of 2,500 characters and started the comparison.
I’m attaching the Excel file, for now limited to only five fragments—which I admit is very few—but tomorrow I’m leaving for Saudi Arabia, and I wanted to give you this feedback before my departure.
You’ll see that the results aren’t very promising. I’ve observed that the fragments from Stromateis display relatively consistent behavior, which means that despite their reduced length, it’s possible to identify Clement’s authorial imprint in them. Ep366, on the other hand, has significantly lower SPI scores across all the profile lengths analyzed.
I still want to analyze a larger number of fragments, but let’s reflect together on whether it’s worth continuing and, if so, in what manner.
Best regards,
Enrico
