I once wrote (Journal of Higher Criticism 16.2, p 106) that the reference to Herod Agrippa being "eaten by worms" at Acts 12:23 might be a conflating of the accounts of his death at Ant 19:343-53 (cf War 1:656) no worms, with the account of his father's fatal illness at Ant 17:169 (worms). While worms could be a stock feature of the death of impious kings (cf 2 Maccabees 9:9, Antioch Epiphanes), it could also indicate that the author knew Antiquities, perhaps from memory (hence his repeated gambling of facts) if not the text itself.
