Christian Texts and History • Any evidence of an "ante-christ"?

Here is the issue: The term "antichrist" doesn't really make much sense. What was it supposed to mean? But "antechrist" would make sense. It would of course the one who comes before the christ. In much of the early literature the "antichrist" is talked about as one who comes to earth before the coming of Jesus from heaven.

So I'm just curious if there are any known writings in which the term antechrist is used instead of antichrist? Even in pre-Christian writings?
