I have sent this mp to mlinssen:
As you know, I am intrigued by the curious coincidence of a Samaritan rebel slain by Pilate. It is a "coincidence" given the fact that you talk a lot about a Samaritan background behind both Thomas and *Ev (and proto-John), and the only revolt happened in Samaria was during Pilate. In addition, the legendary anti-YHWH figures in the Catholic propaganda (Dositheus, Simon Magus, Menander, Cerdon, etc) were Samaritan figures, beyond if they existed really or less. Everything of value (from the POV of a priority of the Chrestianity over the Christianity) seems to converge towards Samaria. The missing link is the following: is there evidence that the Samaritan god was different from YHWH? It would be great if the answer was yes. To your knowledge: do you suspect something in such sense? Apart the strong ethnic rivalry between Judeans and Samaritans, is there something that can point to a rivalry beyween two gods?
